YarnCAD - A CAD system for three-dimensional, modelling and simulation of textile yarns

摘要
The CAD system presented in the paper is intended to ease the design of new complex textile yarns and fabrics. The system ensures the properties and quality of the final product from the very beginning of the design process and thus removes the need for repeated and expensive sample production. The software is designed to produce realistic yam effects by simulating the yarn hairiness, the unevenness of strands and their compression against each other, all of which are mathematically modeled. The appearance obtained by mixing fibres of different colors is also simulated and used for rendering the yarns on a computer screen.
