Sidewall modification of single-walled carbon nanotubes using photolysis of perfluoroazooctane

摘要
Photolysis of perfluoroazooctane in the presence of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SVVNTs) led a sidewall modification of SWNTs to form perfluorooctyl functional groups. The introduction of the perfluoroatkyl substituent was confirmed by Raman, XPS, FT-IR, mass and UV-vis-NIR measurements. This method is useful for sidewall modification of SViNTs with perfluorooctyl moiety due to no formation of byproducts and no destruction of SWNTs electronic behavior by heavy modification.
