摘要
Residual stresses in alpha-Al2O3 scales on NiAl and FeCrAl (Kanthal) were analysed at room temperature with high spatial resolution of a few micrometers by means of optical fluorescence spectroscopy. For an untextured fine-grained alpha-Al2O3 scale, the frequency shift of the fluorescence signal yields the trace of the stress tensor provided the probed oxide volume is large compared to the grain size. Local measurements suggested the presence of large lateral variations of the stress state in alpha-Al2O3 scales on NiAl exhibiting a ridge-like morphology in contrast to scales on FeCrAl. The average compressive stresses obtained in alumina scales on NiAl of 3.5 +/- 0.4 GPa and on FeCrAl of 4.7 +/- 0.1 GPa agreed approximately with X-ray measurements of 3.4 +/- 0.3 GPa and 4.3 +/- 0.3 GPa, respectively. The less regular arrangement of scale cracks induced by spherical indentation on NiAl compared to that on FeCrAl correlates with the large stress variations observed on NiAl.
