Tsunami generation in a compressible ocean by vertical bottom motions

摘要
The necessity of considering water compressibility in solving the problem of tsunami generation by bottom motions during submarine earthquakes is substantiated. The generation of wave motions in a layer of an ideal compressible fluid and in a layer of an incompressible heavy fluid by vertical axially symmetric bottom motions of finite duration is examined on the basis of an analytic solution obtained in the framework of the linear potential theory.
