摘要
Flexible rate is a new desirable operational feature of next-generation higher speed passive optical networks (e.g., ITU-50G PON). In this context, a new dynamic bandwidth algorithm called Fair Bandwidth Allocation (FaBA) is proposed to allocate bandwidth for optical network networks (ONUs) with flexible-rate transceivers. Simulation results show that FaBA can significantly outperform two benchmarks while effectively guaranteeing the average delay of each ONU within 1 ms, and can do this for transceivers at different rates, regardless of their traffic loads.
