摘要
This self-directed learning module highlights new advances in the area of medical issues in brain injury rehabilitation, with an emphasis on traumatic etiologies. It is part of the chapter on brain injury rehabilitation in the Self-Directed Physiatric Education Program for practitioners and trainees in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This article contains information on post-traumatic seizures and hydrocephalus, principles of pharmacologic and spasticity management, dizziness, visual disturbances, and language impairment. New advances covered in this section include more conservative approaches to post-traumatic seizure prophylaxis and the use of botulinum toxin and intrathecal baclofen pumps in the management of spasticity, (C) 1998 by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
