摘要
Towards starting a new project of 'love for one's home' education through learning traditional color names, preparatory questionnaire survey was conducted. A hundred and thirteen undergraduates answered the questionnaire in which their knowledge of ten Japanese traditional color names, motivation of learning them, appreciation of cultural value of them, and their domestic and international interests were asked. The results showed the relationship between one's knowledge of color names and positive attitude to them (high learning motivation and value appreciation). In addition, value appreciation correlated positively with domestic interest only in males. The findings would be helpful for the next step of research in which the effects of actual learning of traditional color names on attitudinal change towards these color names and traditional culture in broader sense will be assessed.
