摘要
Continuous EEG monitoring provides a tool for use in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit. Continuous monitoring can identify complications in time to intervene clinically. EEG can readily identify seizures, including the nonconvulsive seizures which may depress mental state but not cause overt motor convulsions. EEG monitoring can also identify improvement or deterioration in overall cerebral function during coma. Overall, in the neurological ICU setting, this monitoring may shorten ICU and hospital stay by identifying early impending complications and allowing prompt clinical intervention to correct the problems.
