Current-phase relation of high-Tc weak links on bicrystal substrates

The rf impedance of phase-biased YBa2Cu3O7-x weak links on symmetrical bicrystal [001] SrTiO3 substrates was investigated experimentally. The grain boundary angles were 24 degrees and 45 degrees and the experiments were carried out at temperatures of 77K and 4.2K, respectively. The experimentally observed current-phase relation (CPR) for weak links on 24 degrees-bicrystals is essentially sinusoidal with small deviations that can be accounted for by thermal noise. The CPR for junctions on 45 degrees-bicrystals strongly deviates from a sinusoidal dependence.
