The Structural Design of Enterprise BOM for Effective Management of Outfitting BOM in Shipbuilding

摘要
Bill of Material (BOM) is key information for manufacturing industries. Generally, it is used for product design, design change, production plan, procurement and maintenance. Therefore, BOM involves not only the part lists but also all the referential data which defines the product information. Many kinds of BOM's are used to define the product information during the product lifecycles. However, BOM tends to have inconsistent data with that of referential product data because it is scattered in every product development procedures. Therefore, huge amount of BOM should be managed in order to maintain the accurate product data across the design stages and product lifecycle. In this study, outfitting BOM is developed into a structured data which expresses the product data and various product structures to support the product lifecycle in ship design. Considering the design process of shipbuilding, this study reflects the structural features of outfitting equipment into an enterprise BOM and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system. In order to access BOM and product data, the enterprise BOM is illustrated in the view of product trees. Thereafter, we proposed the schematic data model of outfitting BOM based on the relational database.
