40 Gb/s-based large capacity DWDM transmission

摘要
This paper discusses an ultra-dense, wide-band WDM system employing polarization multiplexing/demultiplexing and a gain-shifted thulium-doped fiber amplifier in the 1.49-mum band as a means of achieving 40 Gb/s-based 10-Tb/s DWDM transmission. Stimulated Raman scattering is a major factor limiting the transmission distance of such multi-band WDM system. (C) 2001 Optical Society of America.
