Convective heat transfer from the surface of a heat plate impinged by a reciprocating jet flow

A periodic jet flow strikes the heat plate with a tangential velocity to eliminate the surface disadvantageous boundary layer, a large amount of heat can be removed from the plate surface immediately. Calculations show that the larger nozzle-to-plate distance allows more spacing for the fluids to flow through the plate surface, and the maximum local Nusselt number occurs under the condition of the heat carried out by the fluid balance with the heat transferred from the plate surface. As a result, the convective heat transfer from the plate surface can be enhanced significantly by making use of a reciprocating jet flow. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd.
