We report measurements performed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Raman scattering on trehalose aqueous solutions. The interest on this system is mainly due to. its extraordinary effectiveness as bioprotector against freezing and dehydration. The main purpose of the present work is to investigate the structural properties of trehalose and to study the effects of this disaccharide on the hydrogen bonded network of water.
