POS-NEW PUBLIC MANAGEMENT MOVEMENTS: THE NEW PUBLIC SERVICE

Public Administration is the key to society evolution. Consequently, in the last one hundred and twenty five years, taking into account the birth of this social science with the contributes of Woodrow Wilson, were developed models of performance sustained by different values and principles (FREDERICKSON et.al., 2012). The paradigms of Public Administration are plenty, however there are three underlined in the academy: Weberian Bureaucratic Model, New Public Management and Governance. The New Public Service is a fusion of these three paradigms, a convergence point, adding the concern with the democracy and active citizenship (DENHARDT e DENHARDT, 2007). In FREDERICKSON words "Can theory be important in a field as applied, practical, and interdisciplinary as public administration?" (2012, p. 3). Yes, it can, although, it's not just one theory alone that will handle all the complexity of this field, all the theory families should contribute together for a better understanding.
