The Concept of Tradition in MacIntyre

Maclntyre addresses the tradition issue from Aristotle's theory of the virtues. However, Maclntyre moves quickly away from the Aristotelian perspective, since this philosopher does not have an omni-comprehensive vision of the truth, about the notion of tradition and virtues in general. On the other hand, Maclntyre incorporates in the notion of tradition a dynamic historical element. The present can only be understood in its relation with the past in order to understand and plan the future. Only this way can one understand that the tradition in Maclntyre is the foundation of culture and social life.
