Effects of vacuum and reduced gravity on bearing capacity

摘要
Many early Apollo Era experiments were never published in open literature but provide valuable data for understanding the bear capacity of soils on other planetary bodies in the Solar System. Results from earlier static and dynamic penetration experiments in vacuum and reduced gravity are presented. The results show that vacuum has a pronounced effect on increasing penetration resistance and reduced gravity has the opposite effect.
