New Developments in Slope Stability Analysis with Variable Groundwater Conditions and Earthquake Loading

摘要
Variable groundwater and seismic forces are two major causes of slope failures. This paper presents recent developments in the analysis of slope stability considering variable groundwater and seismic forces. Special consideration is given to the specification of the seismic coefficient and to the choice of the soil's shear strength. Formulas for the stability of a two-wedge soil mass are given for effective-stress analysis, total-stress analysis, and total-stress analysis under undrained conditions.
