THE TOPP-LEONE GEOMETRIC DISTRIBUTION

The extended geometric distribution has been proposed. It is called the Topp-Leone geometric distribution. This distribution is obtained from one of the discretization methods incorporated with the Topp-Leone family of distributions. For moments, we derive its explicit form and provide the first-four moments. Estimates of the Topp-Leone geometric parameters are considered using the maximum likelihood method. In application study, three real datasets related to chemical effects on chromosome aberration are analyzed by fitting with the Poisson, geometric, and Topp-Leone geometric distributions. The application study demonstrates that the Topp-Leone geometric distribution could improve on goodness-of-fit test result of the geometric distribution as well as provide better fit than the Poisson distribution.
