Approximately 40 years ago, Avrom King rendered a number of predictions regarding how orthodontics would be practiced in the future. He referenced 3 Tiers of practice. This article reviews his predictions and which of those came true, those that did not, and those that came to some degree of fruition through different formats and means. This historical review of how we came to deliver care in the models by which we currently do so should impact every practitioner as it is through studying the past that we will to some degree be able to predict the future.
