摘要
Librarians generally are not used to thinking in terms of competitive environments, yet we live in them all the same. The late twentieth-century standard business model for analyzing competitive forces faced by firms was presented by Porter in Competitive Strategy: Techniques for Analyzing Industries and Competitors. If we change the wordfirms to libraries, we may have the beginnings of a model that will help library planning.
