摘要
This study examines how international migration and business networks affect revenue from intellectual property trade using data on Japan's bilateral trade flows. The analysis is distinct as it integrates past studies on two globalization-related topics: trade and migration relationships, and trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) relationships. Our analysis shows that revenue from intellectual property trade relates positively to the number of immigrants residing in Japan; however, it does not have any relationship with FDI in Japan and Japanese direct investments overseas. Additionally, revenue relates negatively to the number of Japanese emigrants living in less developed countries/areas. (C) 2019 Economic Society of Australia, Queensland. Published by Elsevier B.V.
