On-line Garment Pattern Database for Clothing Bioengineering Design

With the development of computer applications, it is important to develop databases to support clothing engineering design. By analysing the garment engineering design process, we identified the needs in terms of fundamental parameters, structures and functions for the database, on the basis of which an online garment pattern database for clothing bioengineering design was developed. According to the characteristics of garment pattern engineering and garment sawing process, the data structure and data types of varment pattern are defined and developed. The main function of this database is to meet the need of garment design and manufacturing requirements such as targeted markets/consumer groups, size charts and distributions for different countries, and garment manufacturing (sewing) processes. The on-line database also provides a communication environment for different users in the textile and clothing industrial supply-chain and supports the clothing bioengineering design process
