RELIGIOUS AND CHURCH MEDIA AND THEIR POSITION IN THE MEDIA SYSTEM OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC

Religious and church media have a specific position in the media system of the Slovak Republic. It is determined by the social and political development of the country and the relations between the state and the Church in the past. The evolvement of this media segment has been intensified after the fall of the Communist regime in November 1989 and after the origin of the dual system of broadcasting, which eliminated the state monopoly in the TV and radio broadcasting. The paper deals with the status of religious and church media and summarizes its contemporary structure from the viewpoint of individual media types, namely the press, radio, TV and new media - especially social networks.
