Reduction of Frequency Chirp in Fabry-Perot Semiconductor Laser Under Low Level Optical Injection

摘要
In this paper we have investigated a method of chirp reduction in Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser by coherent light injection based on the transmission line model developed by the authors. Here we have shown that chirp reduction is possible even under low level of light injection provided we choose proper laser parameters. Dependence of chirp parameter on linewidth enhancement factor (LEF) is also deduced and hence its variation is shown with different values of LEF (a). The correlation of chirp parameter with optical injection level helps in efficient chirp reduction by controlling the detuning of master laser from the slave laser diode.
