Drag force on a string fastened to a sphere moving in a viscous fluid

摘要：
The viscous drag force acting on a thin cotton string fastened to a sphere moving in glycerin has been determined by using a photogate apparatus, showing that the force acting on the string agrees with a simplified 2-dimensional theory for string Reynolds' number N-s less than or similar to 0.008.
