摘要
The problem of the drag of a sphere moving in a viscous fluid has been studied since 1851.However, the theoretical analysis is in fair agreement with the experimental data only inthe range of Reynolds number R≤0.5. In this paper new formulae for the drag of a spheremoving in a viscous fluid in the range of Reynolds number 0≤R≤6 based on sphereradius are presented. The results obtained are in fair agreement with the recent experi-mental data. It may also be expanded for small R and thus reduced to formulae in agreementwith those already established by previous investigators.
