An architecture for low cost wireless access to industrial devices

摘要
The development of digital radio communication technologies has provided a low cost mean to easily access industrial process data from a mobile host, During the last years, focus has been turned towards the consumer market driven development of low cost short-range radio communication technologies. Using these, monitoring and parameterization can remotely be done even for field devices located in places where wiring is not feasible, In this paper we present a prototype architecture and system that uses low cost radio technologies to access field devices from remote hosts, We use standard components and protocols to build a system with devices having short-range radio interface modules connecting to a radio cell and a gateway connecting the cell to the monitoring and control clients over a digital radio network.
