Predictive simulations of JET ELMy H-mode beta and collisionality scaling experiments

Predictive simulations have been performed on JET ELMy II-mode similarity scans in collisionality and magnetic beta. The first-principles drift-wave model used in the simulations predicts global scalings in agreement with the experimental observations. The transport model combines ion temperature gradient driven modes and collisionless trapped electron modes in a unified description where electromagnetic, finite beta, corrections also have been included. Simulated density and temperature profiles are well reproduced in the simulated discharges with global scalings in agreement with experimental observations. The collisionality scaling observed in the simulations enters the prediction through mismatches in similarity conditions where profile effects systematically changes the transport within the similarity scan. In the beta scan the electromagnetic corrections are shown to have only weak impact on predicted density and temperature profiles.
