Most people underestimate the thermal energy that is required to heat up a cold garden pool. Such an underestimation is also often encountered in advertising where idealized or even unrealistic conditions are depicted. The most environmentally friendly option is the use of daily solar irradiation in combination with a thermal insulation of the pool bottom to avoid heat loss at night. All other options to heat up a pool at cold weather require a considerable amount of energy and are also associated with a considerable emission of carbon dioxide. It must also be considered that this heating process may occur even daily in a cool summer. This leads to a multiplication of the estimated costs for the family budget (in terms of Euros) and the environment (in terms of carbon dioxide).
