摘要
In order to improve the forward link capacity of cdma2000 HRPD (High Rate Packet Data) or CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, overcoming multi-path interference is essential. This paper considers FDE (Frequency Domain Equalization) with MMSE (Minimum Mean Square Error) criterion. When introducing FDE to the current HRPD system, backward compatibility should be maintained, i.e. the common channel structures such as the pilot channel should not be changed. In this condition, the conventional channel estimation causes performance deterioration because the pilot spectrums are not flat and CP (Cyclic Prefix) is not inserted. In order to deal with this problem, our previous study presented an accurate estimation method, and verified that the proposed MMSE-FDE could expand the peak data rate with the Rake combiner. As a further step, this paper evaluates the forward link capacity with the proposed MMSE-FDE based on the system level simulation. These simulations are based on the HRPD evaluation methodology of 3GPP2, taking actual estimation accuracy into consideration. By applying FDE to the current HRPD system, the average data rates increase up to 708.9 kbps in the single Rx-antenna case and 1055.7 kbps in the dual Rx-antenna case, respectively. Especially, when focusing on the dual Rx-antenna case, the expansion of the average data rates with the Rake combiner are 1.48 times in the Pedestrian B channel with high multi-path interference and 1.47 times in the Vehicular A channel where fading is rapidly changed.
