New aspects of quality of Internet-based international engineering education

This paper aims to draw the attention of engineering educators to two aspects of quality that are intrinsic to Internet-based engineering education at the international level. The first is the influence of cultural variations on communication and the perceived quality of education. Even if English is adopted as the language of international engineering education, rhetoric will still have its influence along with the expectations and habits formed by previous schooling experiences. The second aspect is the necessity of a new way of thinking on the part of engineering schools so that the Internet can be used to its full potential to attain higher quality, maintain ethical values, and benefit societies.
