Effect of concentration on its optical absorption properties of Pr3+-doped potassium borate glass

摘要
The optical properties of Pr3+ doped potassium borate glass in different Pr3+ concentrations were studied. From the optical absorption spectra, optical band gaps (E-opt) and various spectroscopic parameters (E-1, E-2, E-3 and xi(4f)) are determined. Using Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters (Omega(2), Omega(4), and Omega(6)), radiative lifetimes (tau(R)), branching ratios (beta) and integrated absorption cross sections (Sigma) have been calculated for certain excited states of Pr3+ in potassium borate glass for all the concentrations The radiative lifetimes for all the excited states are minimum when the concentration is high. Few of the transitions have been selected for lasing, action from the magnitudes of branching ratios and integrated absorption cross sections.
