摘要
The UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education (UICEE) is vigorously pursuing research and development in sustainability by establishing a number of projects. The most recent is the Urban Design and Education Programme (UICEE/UDEP), set up in collaboration with the Department of Infrastructure of the State Government of Victoria. Several specific projects are presently being carried out under the programme with a strong input from the local development industry, practising local and international architects and engineers, and local government personnel. The paper gives a brief overview of the Programme. The concept and structure of an urban design and management course, especially tailored for professional engineers practising in civil engineering, is presented and discussed. In the development of the course, special emphasis is being given to the needs of developing nations and their human resources development.
