Clinical presentation of coronary heart disease in young Greek patients

The aim of our study was to determine the clinical presentation and risk factors of coronary heart disease (CHD) in patients younger than 55 years old, in a Greek Hospital. During one-year period, 52 young patients, mean age 44 years, who were admitted to cardiology department because of CHD, entered into our study. CHD in patients younger than 55 years, was more common in men, heavy smokers and commonly manifested with stable (31%) or unstable (38%) angina. Smoking (48%), obesity (23%), hyperlipidemia (25%) and occupation (33% industrial workers) were the most important risk factors, while hypertension, diabetes and heredity were not.
