Endomyocardial fibrosis of the right heart. Case-report and literature review.

Endomyocardial fibrosis is an uncommon condition in which the ventricular endocardium undergoes tight fibrosis. Endomyocardial fibrosis is rarely confined to the right side of the heart. A case in a 37-year-old man is reported. Clinical and echocardiographic findings suggested that only the right heart was involved, and this was confirmed upon surgery and autopsy. Despite surgery, fatal pulmonary embolism occurred. The distinctive features of endomyocardial fibrosis are described.
