On the inter-dependency between lateral diffusion and vertical diffusion in the atmospheric surface layer

摘要：
In this note we examine a widely used assumption that lateral diffusion and vertical diffusion are independent. Both the analysis of field measurement data and numerical simulation of Lagrangian stochastic modeling do not support the assumption. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
