Reflections on Childhood in the History of Feminist Thought

In this article I argue that the political concepts feminists have used throughout history to describe and challenge the problems of sexual inequality and to argue for women's freedom are also used with surprising consistency and effect in their discussions of the status and treatment of youth. What this study reveals, using five feminist thinkers, is a radical, feminist tradition of challenging adult power over children and a call for more democratic and respectful families and schools.
