The review of the Reservoirs Act 1975

This paper describes a review of the Reservoirs Act being carried out by the Reservoirs Committee of the Institution of Civil Engineers. The purpose of the review which has been under way for two years is to identify those aspects of the legislation and current practice which may need to be revised updated or clarified. The review considers the ambit of the Act and the criteria by which a reservoir is to be included within the legislation. The review will also ensure that the Institution is aware of the potential impact of European legislation and other international developments.
