SELECTING FORCASTING METHODS IN ORDER TO SUPPORT DEFING LONG-TERM GOALS

The existence of the organization is affected by goals which are set by managers. Based on the formulated goals are then developed strategies. Goals should respect the resources of organization and come from expected future development in the given field of business. The forecast shows development as a tendency or trend or an ongoing process. For predicting long-term trends is used a number of methods. To select the most appropriate method can be used criteria: time horizon, business field, environment, needs of expert participation and also by the time and cost intensity. The aim of this paper is to introduce methods and their characteristics and indicate the possibility of their application.
