COMPUTER-AIDED-DESIGN (CAD) simulation has become an integral part of the microwave product cycle, as competitive pressures are forcing engineers to minimize cost and time to market. The use of CAD software tools in the design of voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) can be examined with a VCO simulation obtained via the MMICAD(TM) package from Optotek Ltd. (Kanata, Ontario, Canada).
