Large scale hydrogen production processes such as in ammonia synthesis are well known but not directly applicable in hydrogen production for residential power generation with PEM fuel cells, because the composition of the natural gas from the public grid changes by location and with time. To reduce specific capital expenditure a new concept for natural gas conditioning is necessary, especially regarding energy integration.
