摘要
A heat-treatment method to develop a coarse-alpha-particle size in Ti-6Al-4V with a fully-globular (equiaxed) microstructure was developed. It comprises an initial isothermal high-temperature coarsening treatment followed by cooling at a sufficiently slow rate to avoid the decomposition of the metastable-beta matrix phase. By this means, Ti-6Al-4V with an average alpha-particle diameter in the range of 35 to 45 mu m has been developed.
