摘要
If physicians have the suspicion that a patient's disease is an occupational disease, this must be registered at the responsible institution. The decision on whether it could be an occupational disease is not always simple because in addition to the appropriate medical diagnosis, a relevant occupational exposure of the patient must also be established. The BK-Info, an International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD)-assisted online tool of the German Statutory Accident Insurance (DGUV) now provides a rapid decision aid for physicians and support for taking the necessary steps for registration of a suspected occupational disease. In this way, based on the ICD diagnosis physicians can simply test whether this is relevant for an occupational disease and what occupational exposure must be present for each of the current 80 different code numbers in the list of occupational diseases.
