Powder metallurgy in Austria

The status of powder metallurgy (P/M) in Austria is given with emphasis on the various areas of P/M-technology: powder production, manufacturing of P/M semifinished products and components, high melting point metals, hard metals, and equipment and machinery for the P/M-industry. On-going activities at leading Austrian industrial establishments as well as educational and research institutions devoted to P/M are presented Research activities within national and international frameworks and the development of new products in the various areas of P/M are summarized. In conclusion the criteria essential for compliance of P/M with future technical challenges are considered.
