An efficiency justification of basic income

The present study analyzes how a basic income scheme changes the Limits to income redistribution. This fiscal instrument is incentive compatible, non distortionary, and easier to administer than most of the instruments of a modern social security system. Therefore, it could be used to substitute for at least some of them, reducing costs of administration and distortions.
