摘要：
A brief introduction to software engineering tools is presented, and issues involved in the construction of these tools are discussed. Some of the current issues concerning tool developers are highlighted, which include: metaCASE technology, cognitive support, evaluation and validation of tools, and data interchange. Some recent developments in tool construction techniques are examined, and opportunities for further research and development in tool building are identified. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
