摘要
Although known for many decades, it is only since mid90's that N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) have come to occupy a central position in organometallic chemistry, since many attractive features can be associated with NHC complexes. This article intends to explain why these NHCs constitute now an important family of ligands in organometallic chemistry and catalysis.
