Transformation properties of single-mode amplifying fiber waveguides

摘要
In the framework of the linear model accounting for second-order dispersion effects, the distinctive features of transformation of a Gaussian pulse propagating in an amplifying single-mode fiber waveguide are studied. It is demonstrated that the presence of a nonzero imaginary part of the refractive index leads to complex values of the dispersion parameter of group velocities, which changes the dispersion and transformation properties of the fiber waveguide. In particular, a possibility of compressing the input pulse without initial frequency modulation is revealed.
