摘要
We propose a system for the profoundly deaf that helps translate everyday words into a language that can be easily interpreted by the user. A microphone converts speech into an electric signal, which is sent to an Arduino Uno that performs FFT, separating the information into several bins. Each bin has an output that is sent to a buzzer in an array worn on the forearm or on the fingers of the user, and each vibrates with a certain amplitude dependent on the word spoken. Our system is both low in cost and easy for the user, making it a more accessible device for the deaf around the world.
