Microwave-assisted one-pot synthesis of trisubstituted imidazoles on solid support

摘要：
A solvent-free microwave-assisted synthesis of trisubstituted imidazoles is reported. The imidazoles are produced by the condensation of alpha-hydroxyketone with an aldehyde over silica gel or alumina impregnated with ammonium acetate as the solid support in short time with good yields. An air oxidation mechanism is proposed, and this clean air oxidation considerably reduces the cost of imidazole synthesis.
